BIODEGRADABLE
Biodegradability is a material’s ability to break down by living microorganisms into smaller parts until it is small enough to be consumed by the microorganisms thus converting the substance into natural compound found in nature.This process can occur either aerobically or anaerobically. While substances are broken down much faster under aerobic conditions, there is no official standard governing this process.
COMPOSTABLE
Compostable products also break down into smaller compounds with the help of biological organisms, but it does so in specific conditions to a defined outcome. In general, a compostable product breaks down in a specific timeframe in a controlled moist, warm, aerobic environment to produce compost that is non-toxic and can enhance soil and support plant life.
